I bought this shelf for my DVD collection. I have hundreds of DVDs, so I needed something better to hold them all. I choose this unit because it looked nice online and sounded easy to put together. Well, it was relatively easy to put together... I would say easier than a desk from IKEA, but harder than the plastic shelves that just snap together. It took two people and about 10 minutes to assemble. Once it was together it did look nice as well. I ran into problems though once I started filling the shelf with my DVDs. The bottom two shelves are the only ones that were tall enough to fit my DVDs. The rest of the shelves were just barely too short for the DVDs to fit, so I ended up having to lay them all sideways and stack them one on top of another. I was particularly annoyed, because the description of the product said the selves would hold DVDs. I bought this for storing dvds and was a little apprehensive after reading other reviews. However, I am very pleased. The stand looks very nice for the price, it is made of metal and wicker, no plastic or cardboard like other inexpensive items might be. It is true that only three of the shelves are large enough to store full size dvds upright, on the other four shelves you need to place the dvds on their sides. I laid mine on the shelf sideways and stacked them, this made the titles visible. I was able to shelve 93 full size dvds on the stand and also fit in a few blu-ray discs. (The blu-ray ones fit upright on all the shelves) I feel my dvd collection looks tidy and organized shelved in this manner on these shelves.
